Dave Mason @ Veteran's Memorial Amphitheater
10.02.2011 @ Veteran's Memorial Amphitheater
If you know me you know I am accustom to photographing multiple shows consecutively for 2 - 3 days, this was a standard set from day one. The 2nd show I had ever photographed was the day after my 1st show. Practice makes perfect in its true form.
This day was much different than the first day at KHITS Rock n Cholesterol, this was a much more chill event. "KHSE Klassics" was a classic rock festival featuring deep cut artists from KSHE95's early days. KHSE95 has been a St. Louis establishment since 1967 and they haven't changed their format since day one. Classic Rock, Real Rock, 24/7 is their mantra. Even as I type this in 2020 they still retain the same popularity and following as they did in the early days, it was an amazing experience working for them for 4 years! I treasure and miss it often.
This show featured Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame member Dave Mason, Gypsy, and Poco. There were also no sets at night, the show started at 11a or 12n and was over by 8p. It was a chance for me to get better acquainted with my camera without the obstacle of stage lights in a dark setting. I felt like a real concert photographer after this day from doing it over an entire weekend, working shoulder to shoulder with my co-workers, and after this day I decided to take ever concert opportunity that came across my plate. No matter how big or small the show or venue! I was going to master this craft and unlock a talent that I could use as an outlet to balance the mundane pattern of the cubical world. It was, is, and forever will be my "Taj Mahal"!
